there are three main tools that needed to surf the web
- Computer with a web browser application installed
- Modem and/or NIC (network interface card)
- ISP (internet service provider)
let me explain one by one. ;)
What is web browser?
- web browser is a software program used to access the World Wide Web. A browser retrieves data from remote web servers and displays a web page.
Examples : Google Chrome, Internet Explorer , Netscape Navigator ,Firefox Mozilla, Opera and Safari.
- A device or program that enables a computer to transmit data over analogue telephone lines. Computer information is stored digitally, whereas information transmitted over telephone lines is transmitted in the form of analogue waves.
- A modem converts between these two forms.
What is a NIC?
- The hardware device that connects your computer to a network.
last but not least,
What is an ISP (internet service provider)?
- Company that offers its customer’s access to the Internet.
- The ISP connects to its customers using a data transmission technology appropriate for delivering Internet Protocol datagrams, such as dial-up, DSL, cable modem, wireless or dedicated high-speed interconnects.
- ISPs may provide Internet e-mail accounts to users which allow them to communicate with one another by sending and receiving electronic messages through their ISP's servers.
Examples: UniFi, p1 Wimax, Celcom, Maxis, DiGi.

There are many inventions nowadays that does not use any modem right now. smartphone user especially have their own tools to connect themselves to the internet. so, is there any relevance of modem usage nowadays for the internet user. what do you think?
